27th Annual GOLF.com World Amateur Handicap Championship begins on August 30 at Myrtle Beach, Horry County, South Carolina. More than 3,100 amateur golfers from 48 states and 18 countries will participate in the largest single-site golf tournament in the world. More than 55 Myrtle Beach area golf courses will be used for the four-round event that will crown the world amateur champion.
The GOLF.com World Amateur Handicap Championship, hosted by Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday is a 72-hole, net stroke play tournament. Players are arranged into flights according to their handicap and at the conclusion of the four rounds, flight winners’ advance to the 18-hole world championship playoff on Friday, September 3.
More than 55 Myrtle Beach area golf courses comprising this year’s World Am are some of the finest in the area including all four Barefoot Resort & Golf courses, True Blue Golf Plantation, Tidewater Golf Plantation, Grande Dunes, TPC Myrtle Beach and all three courses at Myrtle Beach National.
The World Amateur Tournament Format & Qualifications
- Myrtle Beach is Home to Over 100 Golf Courses Four rounds of net stroke tournament play on a different course each day;
- Flights assigned by handicap index within six divisions: Men (49 & Under), Sr. Men (50-59), Mid Sr. Men (60-69), Super Sr. Men (70+), Women (49 & Under), Sr. Women (50+);
- Flights will be made up of around 48 people and each course will host 2 flights per day (about 96 players per course);
- Top individuals in each flight receive a prize and will also receive a trophy. Daily low net, long drive, closest-to-the-pin, closest-to-the-line, and hole-in-ones also share the spoils of victory;
- A fifth round championship playoff for all Flight winners and ties;
