CableVision launches Five New HD Channels Including ESPNU HD

Cablevision Systems Corp. has launched five new high-definition channels on March 23 that includes ESPNU in HD. Cablevision has launched ESPNU on channel 144 in standard definition and ESPNU HD on 794. Other HD channels added are:

  • ABC Family HD on Channel 749
  • Disney Channel HD on Ch.731
  • Disney XD HD on Ch.750 and
  • ESPNews HD on Ch.796

Cablevision delivers more than 118 high-definition channels many international programming options and thousands of titles of On Demand to its iO TV subscribers.

College sports network ESPNU is a 24-hour sports channel featuring more than 600 live events annually. ESPNU delivers a variety of top football and men’s and women’s basketball mixed with baseball, softball, volleyball, lacrosse, ice hockey, wrestling and more.

Gary Schanman, Cablevision’s senior vice president of video product management, said “We are pleased to launch ESPNU and ESPNU HD, and to add popular services like Disney Channel and Disney XD to our free HD line-up, which now includes 118 high-definition channels, all available without the extra equipment or programming fees many of our competitors charge for HD. iO TV offers customers an expansive array of free HD, dozens of international programming options, unique and valuable local services like News 12 and MSG Varsity, thousands of titles of On Demand and advanced features like search, mobile DVR management, unique mosaic channels and more.”
