Championship Gaming Series (CGS), a Video Game league launched last year by the leading satellite provider DirecTV targeting 18 to 24 year old consumers was a grand success.
DirecTV joined with BSkyB and Star from Asia and has franchises all over the world attracted young ones worldwide targeting the $7.5 billion market of Video games and software. The players were paid salaries about $30000 and bonuses. DirecTV’s channel The 101 has covered the games last year.
Championship Gaming Series 2008 Pan-Asia Final will be held in the world’s premiere eSports training center and professional gaming arena at the Wuhan Optical Valley Electronic Sports Stadium between April 30 to May 3. Wuhan Dragon, Seoul Jinhwa, Singapore Sword, Sydney Underground, Dubai Mirage and Kuala Lumpur Taufan are the teams that are to compete for the price money of 1,000,000 prize purse at the 2008 CGS World Final, which will be held in Los Angeles later in the year.
“By participating in the opening of this great new training center and gaming arena in China, we are spearheading the next step in the evolution of eSports,” stated Andy Reif, CGS Commissioner.
