Cox To Launch Movie Channel ‘Epix HD’ in April

The new movie channel Epix owned by Viacom, MGM and Lionsgate signed a distribution deal with Cox Communications on Monday, Jan. 11.

The high-definition simulcast of Epix was launched on October 30, 2009 distributed by Verizon Communications FiOS TV service.

Cox is the second distributing partner for Epix and they are still negotiating with other operators to carry the new movie channel.

Cox will launch EPIX HD in April, 2010 to movie tier subscribers.

EPIX will offer movie and entertainment programming to Cox movie tier subscribers that include:
Star Trek and GI Joe
Paranormal Activity
Precious
Hot Tub Time Machine
Tyler Perry’s highly successful film franchise – Madea Goes to Jail and I Can Do Bad All by Myself
Cox movie tier subscribers will also be treated with music and comedy all-star specials that include:
Madonna Sticky & Sweet: Live from Buenos Aires and
Sam Kinison Back from Hell featuring Chris Rock, Denis Leary, Jay Leno, George Lopez, Norm Macdonald, Kathy Griffin, Jon Lovitz and many others and Tough Trade, a new original series in production starring Sam Shepard, Lucas Black and Cary Elwes.
