DIRECTV 11 to be launched on March 17
DirecTV, the leading satellite provider in the country is scheduled to launch its next satellite DIRECTV 11 on Monday, March 17. DIRECTV 11 is to be launched by the Sea Launch, a company based in Long Beach, California which has launched 25 rockets and has a success rate of more than 90%. Sea Launch, is preparing for the launch and the liftoff is planned at 22.49 GMT on Monday, March 17. This sea based launch will place the satellite on the optimum position on Earth’s surface and will reduce cost comparing the land based launch.
DIRECTV 11, build by Boeing, the second of its three new satellites build for the high-definition services, is to be the largest and more powerful Ka-band satellites build ever. DIRECTV 11’s technology will allow the satcaster to go for vigorous high-definition expansion.
DIRECTV 11, once its operational will take eight to twelve weeks to deliver the high-definition channels. DIRECTV 10, launched last year and DIRECTV 11 to be launched next week will enable
DirecTV to deliver 150 national and 1,500 Local high-definition channels. This expansion will place DIRECTV, the undisputed leader in the high-definition programming, out of reach of competition from other Satellite providers and Cable Companies.

Dear Sir, I have recently(3/22) signed up for a dish(comcast now)at Best Buy where I bought a $ 10,000.00 Home theatre system. I was promised by the Direct TV rep, Mike Gans(Mobile, Al.) that I would have HI DEF on my local channels(ABC,CBS, NBC) within 90 days(June 22,2008). I need some proof or guarantee in writing and if it does not happen by then that you will pay my cost to go back to Comcast.
If you cannot do this please advise and I will remain w/ Comcast until the local channel(HDTV) Direct TV happens. Thanks, Wylie Northcutt
