DirecTV went on aggressive high-definition expansion last year from September 19, 2007 and almost ended the year with 90 high-definition channels without any competition from other Satellite television provider like Dish Network or from other Cable companies. During September of the same year the satcaster started delivering local high-definition programming with local HD in Honolulu on October 31, 2007.
DirecTV introduced new EXTRA high-definition pack called DIRECTV HD EXTRA PACK on October 26, 2007 and offered a free offer launch to the customers up to February 26, 2008 and would charge $5/month Extra after the free offer period. DirecTV offered following Channels in the HD EXTRA PACK pack:-
Universal HD
HDNet Movies
MGM HD
MHD HD and
Smithsonian Channel HD
Now the free offer is over and DirecTV had sent mails to customers reminding them about the offer.

DirecTV never sent me a notice that these would cost extra, so that’s bad marketing. I just noticed they were gone one day. And honestly,why would anyone pay for these crappy channels full of reruns? The only shows I watch are Firefly and Northern Exposure on UniversalHD, and $60 a year will buy thoses DVDs.
