DirecTV Launches Local HD Programming in the Chattanooga, Tennessee

DirecTV with the help of new satellite DIRECTV 11 has started delivering national and local high-definition programming. DirecTV has recently launched Local HD Programming in Johnstown, Altoona in Pennsylvania and Augusta, Georgia.

DirecTV has launched local HD programming in the Chattanooga, Tenn. designated market area. WTVC/ABC, WDEF/CBS, WDSI/FOX and WRCB/NBC are new broadcast networks available in high-definition in this area. DirecTV is now offering local HD broadcast channels in 82 cities, representing more than 77 percent of U.S. TV households.

DirecTV is also planning to offer more local HD channels and will launch 39 more HD local channel markets by the end of 2008, when DIRECTV will provide local HD broadcast channels in 121 cities, representing more than 88 percent of U.S. TV households. DIRECTV leads the industry in the delivery of HD and now offers more than 130 HD channels.
