DirecTV has launched new satellite DIRECTV 12 on December 29 to expand its high-definition programming and also local HD channels in United States.
Once the new satellite DIRECTV 12 begins its operation in second quarter in 2010, DirecTV will start offering many new HD channels.
DIRECTV 12 will help the satcaster to offer more than 200 HD channels and will launch local HD channels in many new markets.
DirecTV is presently offering 130 HD channels and local HD in 138 markets, representing 92 percent of U.S. TV households.
