DirecTV presents all MEGA MARCH MADNESS games in HD
Men’s Basketball head coach Ben Howland UCLA Bruins will be the official spokesperson of the DirecTV’s exclusive MEGA MARCH MADNESS package of 2008 with 37 National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) tournament games in high-definition for the second year. This goes to show the DirecTV’s commitment of serving the customers with high-definition programming. DirecTV, which has entered a multiyear deal to exclusively carry the NCAA Mega March Madness out-of-market men’s college-basketball tournament with the rights holder CBS up to 2010 will broadcast 37 Mega March Madness games in high-definition when the tournament starts on March 20.
The package is available for the DirecTV customers for $69 and has various interactive enhancements features this year. Four matches broadcast on a single channel “Game Mix” will be handy for the customers to watch selected all four games to view at a time. On-screen L-wrap, a new feature will be availble for every high-definition broadcast will allow viewers to access scores and stats via the interactive. Another significant feature On-screen Tournament bracket will allow viewers with the interactive receivers to input and track their own game picks.
Eric Shanks, executive vice president of DIRECTV Entertainment said in a statement “The MEGA MARCH MADNESS service is truly the only comprehensive NCAA Tournament package out there, While other providers may be content to show highlights, DirecTV is offering fans exclusive access to up to 37 live games from the first three rounds of the Tournament, and this year, all of the games are in HD. By combining our award-winning interactive enhancements with expanded HD, we continue to add an exciting dimension to the Tournament broadcast and the customer’s viewing experience.”
