DirecTV announced that it will be launching n3D channel on July 1. DirecTV’s n3D is a 3D channel powered by Panasonic to deliver 3D shows , movies and sports from AEG/AEG Digital Media, CBS, Fox Sports/FSN, Golden Boy Promotions, HDNet, MTV, NBC Universal and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.
DirecTV subscribers with high-definition service with compatible 3DTV will be able to access n3D on channel 103. DirecTV will also offer 3DTV pay-per-view channel and video-on-demand movies in 3D.
Steven Roberts, DirecTV’s senior vice president of new media and business development, said “DirecTV will initially focus on making sure the primetime block — 7 p.m. to midnight Eastern, to cover East and West coasts — “is filled with content that people will want to watch on an ongoing basis. The content we’ll be offering will be growing literally on a weekly basis. We believe that people will be pleased with the range of the content and the quality of the content. Like any new channel, it’s going to evolve.”
