DirecTV To Launch Local HD Channels in Bluefield-Beckley, W. Va. On Sept. 30

DirecTV has announced that it will launch local high-definition channels to its subscribers in the Bluefield-Beckley, W. Va. on Sept. 30. DirecTV subscribers in Bluefield-Beckley must have an H20 or H21 receiver or an HR20 or HR21 DIRECTV Plus HD DVR and a Ka/Ku band dish to receive following local HD channels:

WOAY/ABC

WSWP/PBS

WVNS/CBS and

WVVA/NBC

DirecTV will also to launch MNT/FOX and WLFB/Independent in standard-definition.

DirecTV also announced a special offer with the launch of local HD channels. The special offer is that customers who need to upgrade their equipment: the first receiver is free and all additional receivers are charged along with free standard professional installation.

Local channels are must-have programming for consumers who depend on them for vital news and weather information along with entertainment, and now for the first time, they’re available via satellite with four networks in crystal-clear HD.”
