DirecTV to put 24 hour limit for PPV movies

Starting from April 15, DirecTV subscribers, who download movies via digital video recorders, will have only 24 hours time to watch the movie, at present there is no time limit. This will apply for both standard and high-definition movies that the customers download. No increase in price for the download of movies and it stays for pay-per-view movies at $3.99 a movie.

DirecTV puts all the blame on Hollywood and the Company in their website “Recording Pay Per View Movies to your DVR” has stated that the studios have requested the satellite and cable companies not to allow their customers to watch the recordings not later than 24 hours to protect their copyright and improve the DVD sale. Further DirecTV has stated that this will not affect special PPV events like sports.
