Dish Network’s New Satellite ‘EchoStar XI’ Lifts Off Today
Dish Network is to launch a new satellite EchoStar XI on July 15 designed to expand its high-definition capacity. The Sea Launch, headquartered in Long Beach, Calif. is in preparation for the launch of the EchoStar XI satellite on Tuesday, July 15. Liftoff is planned at 10:21pm PDT, July 15 will provide live coverage at its web site starting at 10:10 p.m. Dish Network’s AMC-14 launched during March 2008 had failed to reach the desired orbit and this had a great impact on Dish Network’s HD expansion plans. For everyone’s surprise Dish Network started delivering new HD channels and has announced that they will launch 17 HD channels on August1.
DIRECTV launched a new satellite DIRECTV 11 during March 2008 to go for HD expansion, the satcaster will start delivering new HD channels starting from September. With the help of DIRECTV 11 and DIRECTV 10 (which is already in the orbit) the satcaster will deliver 150 national and 1,500 Local high-definition channels.
