June 12, 2009 · 0 comments
ESPN Networks will broadcast in high-definition all the 16 matches of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup from South Africa June 14-28 on ESPN and ESPN2. ESPN will present all the matches with the studio commentaries from ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., headquarters.
ESPN’s 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup commentator team includes:
Play-by-play commentators
JP Dellacamera
Derek Rae
Adrian Healey
Robbie Mustoe
Analyst
John Harkes
Tommy Smyth
Alexi Lalas
Host – Rece Davis
ESPN will use the virtual replay technology developed by the Swiss company LiberoVision ESPN Axis, the technology that creates “virtual” replays, with video from the live action processed via computers to create virtual freeze frames from multiple angles. Angles of view may be tilted upwards by 90 degrees — from field level to directly overhead — creating three-dimensional, bird’s-eye views from multiple vantage points to diagram plays.
