ESPN RISE Announces Coaches For ’2010 Boost Mobile Elite 24′ Teams

ESPN RISE has announced the coaches for the nation’s elite high school basketball players during the 2010 Boost Mobile Elite 24 hosted at Los Angeles’ Venice Beach Friday and Saturday, August 27 and 28.

SportsCenter’s Stan Verrett and Neil Everett with Wizards’ John Wall and the Bucks’ Brandon Jennings will coach the high school basketball players. Wall and Jennings are alumni of the game.

Local high school basketball coaches Reggie Morris, Jr. of St. Bernard (Playa Del Rey, Calif.) and Derrick Taylor of Taft High School (Woodland Hills, Calif.) will lead the coaching staffs of the two teams with Verrett, Everett, Wall and Jennings as their assistants. Morris, with Wall and Verrett will lead the “Raymond Lewis” squad, while Taylor, with Jennings and Everett will lead the “Marques Johnson” squad. Teams, in the tradition of the event, are named after local playground legends.

Boost Mobile Elite 24 participants are selected by high school basketball experts from ESPN RISE, ESPN College Basketball Recruiting and other leading talent evaluators. Players were selected based on their performances at AAU tournaments and national summer camps. Boost Mobile Elite 24 player participation is strictly determined by parental/legal guardian permission, and high school and state association guidelines.

The 2010 Boost Mobile Elite 24 event will consist of a dunk competition titled the Under Armour Slam Dunk Contest, on Friday, August 27, 8 p.m. EDT and the game on Saturday, August 28, 7:30 p.m. EDT; the two will be televised live on ESPNU.

Event sponsors include: Boost Mobile, title sponsor; Under Armour, apparel and slam dunk content; Wilson, basketballs and Gatorade, hydration.
