MASN To Launch Full-Time HD Channel in 2009

Sports Network that televises every game of the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles, Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) has announced on Tuesday that it will launch a full-time high-definition channel in March 2009. MASN also plans to broadcast more than double the number of HD telecasts of Nationals and Orioles games.

MASN’s HD expansion will bring up to 200 Major League Baseball games in high-definition in 2009; this will be every night an HD match of the season. MASN HD will also broadcast Ravens preseason games, selected NCAA Division I football, basketball, lacrosse games, and ESPN News in HD. The channels 2008 season broadcasts 40 Orioles games and 40 Nationals games in high-definition beamed through 21 different cable and satellite providers throughout the seven state region.

“MASN will continue to bring fans maximum access to the Orioles and the Nationals by expanding our HD line up next season,” said MASN spokesman Todd Webster. “MASN’s 2009 baseball schedule will give fans an HD game every night of the season, as we more than double the number of games in high definition. The dedicated HD channel gives MASN the ability to provide other HD programming, including Ravens preseason football games, NCAA Division I football, basketball and lacrosse, as well as ESPN News.”
