MLB Network has announced the broadcast schedule of Youth Baseball Month beginning on August 7 at 2:00 PM ET.
Youth Baseball Month on MLB Network
MLB Network will offer broadcast coverage of:
- Cal Ripken World Series
- Breakthrough Series
- RBI World Series presented by KPMG
- New Era National Youth Baseball Championships and
- The Under Armour All-America Game
The Cal Ripken World Series, Senior Boys RBI World Series, RBI Softball World Series and New Era National Youth Baseball Championships broadcast team will be:
- Greg Amsinger
- Bill Ripken
- Hall of Famer Cal Ripken
Breakthrough Series:
Youth Baseball Month on MLB Network will begin with the Breakthrough Series, organized by the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy featuring players selected by the MLB Urban Youth Academy, the Major League Scouting Bureau, the Chicago White Sox and a scouts’ organization called Mentoring Viable Prospects.
MLB Network will broadcast the game on Saturday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m. ET with Triple-A Durham Bulls broadcaster Neil Solondz and Baseball America editor-in-chief John Manuel calling the game.
Senior Boys RBI World Series presented by KPMG:
Youth Baseball Month on MLB Network next live coverage will be the Senior Boys RBI World Series presented by KPMG on MLB Network and MLB.com beginning on Saturday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. ET with MLB.com’s Pete McCarthy and four-time World Champion and former relief pitcher Jeff Nelson calling the game from Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida, the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals shared Spring Training site.
MLB Network and MLB.com will also broadcast the RBI Softball World Series presented by KPMG, called by Jeremy Brisiel and Jeff Nelson, on Sunday, August 23 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
2010 Under Armour All-America Baseball
MLB Network will bring 2010 Under Armour All-America Baseball live on Saturday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. ET with Greg Amsinger and Bill Ripken calling the game.
2010 Under Armour All-America Baseball game will showcase 36 of the world’s most promising rising juniors and seniors. In both the 2009 and 2010 MLB First-Year Player Drafts, a total of 58 of the 72 players who participated in the 2008 and 2009 Under Armour All-America Games were selected. Of the 2009 Under Armour All-Americans, five players were first-round Draft picks.
MLB Network and MLB.com will deliver live coverage of the Cal Ripken World Series International, U.S. and World Championship games from the Ripken Academy in Aberdeen, Maryland on August 21 and 22 On Saturday, August 21. Sixteen teams from around the country and throughout the world will compete to participate in these tournaments.
The New Era National Youth Baseball Championships 12-Under division round out Youth Baseball Month on MLB Network and MLB.com from August 28-29. Played at Gameday Baseball’s First Tennessee Fields in Memphis, Tennessee, the tournament crowns national champions in the 10-under and 12-under divisions of 8 participating organizations, including AABC (American Amateur Baseball Congress), AAU (Amateur Athletic Union of the United States), Babe Ruth Baseball, Dixie Youth Baseball, NABF (National Amateur Baseball Federation), Pony Baseball, Super Series Baseball of America and USSA (United States Specialty Sports Association), totaling more than 100,000 teams. MLB.com’s Vinny Micucci and Jeff Nelson will call each game and will be joined by MLB Network’s Harold Reynolds for the final game on August 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Additional programming throughout the month includes Diamond Demos from MLB Network’s Studio 42, showing viewers fundamentals and tips on how to play baseball. As part of Youth Baseball Month, MLB Network will visit the Cal Ripken World Series and New Era National Youth Baseball tournament sites with the MLB Tonight “Strike Zone” where fans can test their pitching skills.
