NFL Network of National Football League and Walt Disney’s World leader in the sports ESPN are negotiating to form a partnership. This partnership will allow ESPN to distribute NFL games through ESPN’s various network platforms. This is according to The Wall Street Journal.
This partnership with ESPN is due to many cable operators refusing to carry the NFL Network. They argue that the customers have to pay more for the NFL Network. The leading Cable operator Time Warner and Satellite TV provider DISH Network refuse to carry the Network. During 2006 season, NFL fans were disappointed as the Network withholds eight games. Now this move by NFL to join hands with ESPN is welcomed by the fans. Media analysts feels that ESPN will also have idea to combine NFL Network with the ESPN Classic network and the operators can distribute the network on the on expanded basic cable tiers.
