New England sports network (NESN) has signed a multiyear contract extension with Red Sox color analyst Jerry Remy.

Remy was hired by NESN in 1988 as a color analyst to work alongside legendary Red Sox play-by-play voice Ned Martin. For the past 10 years, Don Orsillo has been Remy’s partner in the NESN booth.

A four-time New England Emmy Award winner for sports play-by-play, Remy also has received numerous individual honors, including being voted Massachusetts’ favorite TV announcer by Sports Illustrated. The popular announcer will work his 3,000th Red Sox game on Sunday, July 25.

Jerry Remy said “I am truly fortunate to have been part of the NESN family for the past 23 years and that relationship will continue into the future. I feel I have the best job in the world broadcasting Red Sox baseball.”

Sean McGrail, NESN’s president and CEO said “Jerry is a fixture in New England who continues to be one of the most popular announcers in all of baseball. His commitment to NESN and the team has been exemplary, and we are thrilled to continue our relationship for years to come.”

Joel Feld, NESN’s executive vice president of programming and executive producer said “There is only one Jerry Remy. NESN has been his home for the last 23 years and fans of Red Sox Nation will continue to enjoy his special brand of analysis, knowledge and humor for the next several years.”
