The MountainWest Sports Network (The Mtn.) has announced that it will broadcast new episode ‘Stories of the Mountain West,’ on Monday, September 7 at 7 p.m. MT. Stories of the Mountain West, a one-half hour program will be hosted by Emmy Award winning reporter Sammy Linebaugh and will present unique storylines of past and present personalities from the Mountain West Conference.
Stories of the Mountain West will feature three segments as follows:
Cash Sirois profiles Clint Gresham, TCU football’s long-snapper. Quickness and accuracy are two attributes which Clint possesses; making him one of the best at this position which is vital to any team’s kicking game. Coach Gary Patterson discusses the importance of these qualities which make it virtually impossible time-wise for the opposing defense to block a kick. Cash tests Clint’s skills by giving him a few targets to hit.
San Diego State wide receiver Roberto Wallace, who hails from Panama, grew up playing football. Actually, make that futbol. Jenny Cavnar brings viewers the story about how Wallace came to the United States not knowing anything about the game as we in the States know it before his high school coach tried him at the receiver position, where he excelled to the threshold of earning a scholarship from SDSU.
When he was very young, Utah defensive end Robert Johnson’s father was murdered during a robbery. His mother worked two jobs to support Robert and his siblings yet she never missed an athletic event for her children. This segment discovers how Robert overcame the temptations and stereotypes one can fall into growing up in Los Angeles with his brothers and coaches filling the male role model void he was left with. Sammy Linebaugh has the story.
