TV One planning to Launch HD channel

TV One which airs original lifestyle and entertainment-oriented shows, movies, fashion and music programming is planning to launch a high-definition channel in fourth quarter 2008.

Radio One owned by Comcast Corporation has a subscriber base of 43-million via DirecTV, Comcast, Cox, Charter, Time Warner Cable, Insight, and other smaller, regional cable operators and have classic series of programming such as 227, Good Times, Martin, Boston Public and its Showtime at the Apollo.

TV One president Johnathan Rodgers said “High-definition programming is important tour distributors and our audience, and we have long known we would launch an HD offering, but only after making sure our primary channel was well received and on firm footing.”
