Verizon FiOS TV has announced the launch of 39 new channels, including 19 additional high-definition channels in Maryland and northern Virginia. Verizon says that the subscribers in Maryland and northern Virginia have more than 540 HD choices and 48 high-definition channels at any time, and also 500 high-definition VOD titles offered each month.
With the launch of the new channels, Verizon claims that they are offering more HD than both Comcast and Cox in these areas. Telco is planning to expand its programming line-up and focusing more of HD and will deliver all available major HD programming.
FiOS TV subscribers in Maryland and northern Virginia will receive HD channels like Animal Planet, TLC, Science Channel, Smithsonian Channel, CNN, CNBC, Lifetime, Bravo, TBS, History Channel, Weather Channel, USA and SCI FI. Big Ten Network HD, Versus HD/Golf Channel HD, Outdoor Channel 2 and ESPNU HD are also added to its programming line-up to satisfy the needs of sports fans.
