October 22, 2009

Verizon has announced that it has launched its FiOS TV service in Baltimore County, Maryland. Verizon stated that 25,000 additional homes and businesses in Baltimore County will be benefited due this launch.

Verizon will offer FiOS TV service through all-fiber-optic network to deliver 500 channels in Maryland that also includes 132 high-definition channels. Verizon will offer more channels than Comcast offers in Maryland County.

R. Roberts, Verizon’s president for Maryland and Washington, D.C., said: “Consumers in these communities at long last have a better choice for TV. We’ve had great success throughout Baltimore County and in other parts of the state. FiOS TV will bring more Baltimore County consumers a choice that is truly different from the cable TV company.”

Roberts added: “Our advanced 100 percent fiber-optic network was built for HD, and right out of the box we’re making more HD channels available than Comcast has provided after decades in the business. With all-fiber connections running straight to their homes, viewers get both HD and standard-definition TV that is eye-popping.”
