Verizon is to offer its FiOS TV service, the most advanced fiber-optic network delivered straight to customers in the Town of Fleming in Cayuga County. The Town Board has approved the franchise agreement in Fleming on Monday, July 13. Verzion has got approvals in East Syracuse and North Syracuse, and the town of Cicero in central New York.

Verizon has been approved to provide FiOS TV service in 156 New York municipalities and The Telco is in the process of building and installing the necessary video equipment in local central offices in the central New York region, and expects that FiOS TV service will be turned on for new customers in municipalities there later this year.

Gary Searing, Fleming Town Supervisor said “I am proud that Fleming is one of the first communities in this region – and the first in Cayuga County — to give its residents a choice in TV providers, and to bring new technology into our homes, competition is a good thing for our residents because it ushers in better customer service, better value and more services. In addition to these great consumer benefits, the town will benefit as well through increased franchise fees. It is a winning situation all-around.”

Andres Irlando, Verizon president for the New York region said “There are significant economic development and consumer benefits in Verizon’s rollout of FiOS TV to these central New York communities. These franchise agreements clearly show the customer demand for choice in broadband, television and entertainment services.”
