Verizon’s FiOS Adds 23 New Channels to FiOS TV Lineup for Pittsburgh Area Customers

Includes 18 in high-definition

Verizon’s FiOS TV has announced that the company has launched 23 new channels, including 18 additional high-definition channels in the Pittsburgh area. Verizon has more HD channels than Comcast in this area. Verizon’s FiOS TV customers in the Pittsburgh area are offered with a total of 45 high-definition channels and more than 400 HD video-on-demand (VOD) titles offered each month and have 440 HD choices available at any time. The HD channel line-up will be increased further and Telco says their major focus is on high-definition content and will offer all available major HD programming, by year-end.

Verizon has announced Tuesday, Aug. 12 that consumers who sign up for FiOS TV between now and Oct. 4 are eligible for a year’s free use of either an high-definition digital video recorder (HD DVR) or an HD Home Media DVR. Verizon also announced that new FiOS TV customer, or existing customers who upgrade to a bundled package can save between $200 and $260 as they are offering one free month of HBO and Cinemax, which includes over 25 premium channels and access to hundreds of additional titles on VOD.

FiOS TV customers in the Pittsburgh market will now have a total of 45 HD channels and will get to see some of their favorite channels in HD. The 18 new high-definition channels include:

Animal Planet - Animal Planet lets you explore cats, dog breeds, wild animals and pets. Brings viewers face-to-face with unforgettable creatures from around the globe. Features visits to people and their pets, plus lively shows on the world of nature tailored especially to children. Plus exclusive animal news, videos and info about your favorite TV shows.

Bravo - Bravo is the network that plugs people into arts, culture, pop culture, comedy, celebrity, fashion, poker, fitness, real estate and cook TV shows and with original programming, quality movies and a whole different side of celebrities. Bravo also airs reruns of series from parent network NBC, and produces original reality content, most popularly Project Runway, Inside the Actors Studio, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, Queer Eye, Top Chef, Step It Up and Dance and Flipping Out.

Cinemax - Cinemax showcases top Hollywood hits, the best in new cinema, Cinemax Reel Life documentaries, action-packed thrillers, wild comedies, classic screen gems and more for people who love movies. Cinemax gives viewers the widest variety of movies from its vast inventory with a different movie every night at 8 p.m. ET all year long!

Lifetime - Lifetime provides Home, Crafts, Entertainment, Health, Relationships and informational programming dedicated to women, like the “Intimate Portrait” series, plus award-winning original movies, exclusive specials and acclaimed dramas.
